After two hours of Ryan Seacrest bellowing choice phrases like “nationwide vote” and eternal questions like “WHO WILL FILL THESE STOOLS?” we finally know the Top 13 contestants for season 11.
Filipino-Mexican Jessica Sanchez of Chula Vista, California is now part of "American Idol" season 11's Top 13.
Sanchez, along with nine other finalists, made the cut after obtaining a high number of votes from the public. Three other finalists will be chosen by "American Idol" judges Steven Tyler, Randy Jackson and Jennifer Lopez after the show's "wild card" round.
According to host Ryan Seacrest, 33 million votes were cast over two nights.
Sanchez, 16, received a standing ovation from the judges on Wednesday (Thursday in Manila) after she performed her own rendition of Jennifer Hudson's "Love You I Do" from the movie "Dreamgirls."
The other finalists who received the highest number of votes include Philip Phillips, Hollie Cavanagh, Joshua Ledet, Heejun Han, Shannon Magrane, Skylar Laine, Elise Testone, Colton Dixon and Jermaine Jones.
Sanchez is the fourth Filipino who made it as a finalist in "American Idol." Camille Velasco and Ramiele Malubay made it to the Top 9 on season 3 and 7, respectively.
Jasmine Trias landed on the Top 3 in season 3 while Thia Megia was part of the Top 11 in the show's previous season.
