Kyle named 1st Pinoy 'Junior MasterChef'

Kiddie cook Kyle Imao from Marikina was named the first-ever Pinoy Junior MasterChef on Saturday during the “Junior MasterChef Pinoy Edition Finale: The Live Cook-off”.

Kyle garnered the score of 91.8 points from chef-judges Fern Aracama, Rolando Laudico, and JP Anglo; guest judge Glenda Barretto; and 100 other guest-judges.

Kyle took home P1 million and P1.5 million worth of culinary scholarship from Treston International College.

“Parang nanaginip lang ako. Mangarap kayo ng malaki. Huwag kayong titigil mag-work hard para maabot niyo ang pangarap niyo,” he said.

Kyle cooked oyster ravioli and Asian fusion shrimp and scallops for his final dishes.

Philip Amarillo from Cebu won second place with 91.1 points and took home P500,000 and P1.5 million worth of culinary scholarship.

Mika Tanaka and Jobim Jalbuena won the third and fourth places, respectively.

They were awarded P250,000 each as well as P500,000 worth of scholarship.

Junior MasterChef Pinoy Edition Finale: “The Live Cook-off” to air this Saturday!

After hurdling the intense weekly culinary battles and impressing the Filipino public with their creations, the Final Four kiddie cooks Jobim, Kyle, Mika, and Philip will rise to their final cooking challenge in the “Junior MasterChef Pinoy Edition Finale: The Live Cook-off” this Saturday (Feb 18) at 6 p.m.

Armed with months of training in the competitive arena of “Junior MasterChef Pinoy Edition,” the four talented kids will be preparing their dishes live at the Treston International College in a bid to become the first ever Junior MasterChef who will bring home P1 million and a culinary scholarship.

Meanwhile, P500,000 will be awarded to the competition’s second placer, and P250,000 each to the third and fourth placers.

Host Judy Ann-Santos and judges Chef Ferns, Chef Lau, at Chef Jayps will be sampling and criticizing the kiddie cooks’ dishes, which will represent the skills and knowledge they have gained in the MasterChef kitchen.

To help the three judges decide, 100 people from different sectors of society will critique the recipes the Final Four will whip up in a separate but equally intense cooking test.

“Junior MasterChef Pinoy Edition” became the most watched show last Sunday (Feb 12) when it revealed Jobim, Kyle, Mika, and Philip as the Final Four kiddie cooks. The episode garnered a 21.9% national TV rating, based on data from Kantar Media.

The kiddie cooking reality show also defeated its rival program last Saturday (Feb 11) when it garnered a 22.0% rating against “Manny Many Prizes” (12.4%) of GMA-7.

Meanwhile, Pancake House restaurant serves dishes inspired by the top-rating kiddie cooking reality show such as cabbage lumpia in coconut breading, rice in ampalaya silog, porksilog steak, and tofu eggplant salad.

Junior MasterChef Pinoy Edition Reveals Final 4: Kyle, Jobim, Mika and Phillip

he ABS-CBN’s top-rating kiddie cooking show, Junior Masterchef Pinoy Edition, revealed its Final 4 on Sunday, February 12.

The kiddie cooks battled for cooking supremacy on Saturday with a Mystery Box Challenge where they had to serve up recipes from combo ingredients, namely raw mango and shrimp paste, pork and tofu, and gelatin and tapioca pearls.

Kyle Imao won the Saturday’s challenge and was automatically assured a spot in the finals while the bottom five – Jobim Jalbuena, Caitlin Taluban, Louise Mabulo, Mika Tanaka and Philip Amarillo, had to undergo the Sunday’s showdown of mud crab dishes to get onto the Top 4.

Hosts Judy Ann Santos-Agoncillo,  judges Chef Ferns, Chef Lau, and Chef Jayps, on Sunday, have chosen the four kiddie cooks who deserved the final spots – Kyle, Jobim, Mika and Phillip.  The Final 4 will face off in the “Junior MasterChef Pinoy Edition: The Live Cook-off” next Saturday, February 18.
