American Idol 2012 Top 5 Results: Jessica Sanchez Safe, Skylar Laine Eliminated!

After receiving much praise from her second song especially, Jessica Sanchez is safe and now joins the top 4 of American Idol 2012 along with Philip Philips, Joshua Ledet and Hollie Cavanagh. (Watch Jessica perform “You Are So Beautiful” and “Proud Mary”)

In early results tonight, American Idol told news that Joshua Ledet was advancing. His performance of To Love Somebody drew massive praise last night. Randy Jackson told news “That’s what it’s really all about.” But the review that dominated news came from Jennifer Lopez. She told Joshua that “There’s so few people who could perform that way. You are one of the best singers I’ve seen in 50 years, since James Brown.” Steven Tyler also loved the performance.

Many of the judges loved Jessica Sanchez perform You Are So Beautiful. But after a shocking elimination and save earlier in this season, Jessica’s fate seemed uncertain. Some news analysts are still unsure if voters will advance her to the American Idol 2012 finals.

Randy Jackson said “This girl is on top of the leaderboard.” Jennifer Lopez said she “captivated the whole audience.” And Steven Tyler said that she is going to be female singer to beat this season.

Skylar Laine, however, delivered an impressive performance last night. But was her rendition of You Don’t Have To Say You Love Me strong enough to advance her tonight? Randy Jackson told news he loved it. Jennifer said Laine “might” win this season. And Steven gave marginal praise as well.

A trio of Jessica Sanchez, Hollie Cavanagh, and Skylar Laine got top marks for their performance of Your Love Keeps Lifting Me Higher and Higher. Randy said it was a “very nice job.” Jennifer said it was “cute”. And Steve said they “sang the h–ll out of it.”

Also problematic for tonight’s elimination was Hollie Cavanagh. She was impressive but not exceptional on Bleeding Love, so claimed the judges last night. Randy said it was “unbelievable”. But Jennifer called it “beautiful”. Steven however told news “I loved it. You nailed it.”

Is the person to beat this season Jessica Sanchez or Joshua Ledet? Last night, the answer was Joshua. He was also strong with “Ain’t Too Proud to Beg”. Randy told news that the performance “can bring R&B back.” Jennifer said he was amazing and Steven called him “one of the top 2 best Idols of all time.”

Last week, the bottom three was Skylar Laine, Elise Testone and Hollie Cavanagh. The week before, the bottom three was Elise, Hollie, and Colton. But with Elise and Colton gone, what happened tonight on American Idol?

The bottom two tonight were Hollie Cavanagh and Skylar Laine. And in the end, eliminated tonight May 3 was Skylar Laine.

Kris Allen picks Jessica Sanchez as his ‘Idol’ favorite!

After Akon expressed his adoration for Fil-Mexican Idol contestant, Jessica Sanchez last week, American Idol Season 8 winner, Kris Allen, says in an interview that Jessica Sanchez is also his personal favorite to win this season and gives advice to the contestants.

“She’s the most ready, vocally. Her voice blows me everytime! I love watching her sing. I think she’s incredible.

I would love to write a song for her.”

Jessica Sanchez to Sing the Philippine National Anthem in Manny Pacquiao Boxing Fight

8-division world boxing champion Manny Pacquiao eyes American Idol Season 11 MexiPinay  contender Jessica Sanchez to sing "Lupang Hinirang" in one of his future fights.

Pacquiao recently praised the Filipino-Mexican-American singer, who is now among the top 5 finalists in the current season of "American Idol."

In an interview with ABS-CBNNews.com, the Saranggani Congressman said he is praying for Sanchez, and he believes she can win the whole competition.

"Jessica, good luck and we're praying for you. Sana manalo ka. No, hindi sana. I declare that you're gonna win in Jesus' name," he said.

Those who have sung the Philippine National Anthem in Pacquiao's previous fights include Charice, Maria Aragon, Sarah Geronimo, Lani Misalucha, Christian Bautista, Kyla, Jennifer Bautista, Jonalyn Viray, Aicelle Santos, Maricar Garcia, and Arnel Pineda.

In his June 9 fight against Timothy Bradley, Pacquiao chose Kirby Asunto, 14-year-old Filipina-New Yorker, to sing the national anthem.

VIDEO: Akon says Jessica Sanchez overqualified for 'Idol' and is ready to sign her!

Akon, who recently guest mentored on Idol, says  Jessica Sanchez is by far his favorite contestant this season. "I know I shouldn't be saying this, but I kind of want her to get voted off so I can sign her," Akon told E! News at the Billboard Latin Music Awards in Miami.

"She's beyond the talent that's supposed to be there," the R&B star gushed. "I think she's overqualified, I really do."

"And she's only 16," Akon continued. "Like, I've been around a lot of superstars. I haven't seen anyone at that age sing like that."

Sanchez was actually almost voted off the show two weeks ago but was saved by the judges, who decided to use their once-per-season save. "[People] naturally assume that she's been voted for because she's so good," Akon said. "So they chose to vote for someone else to kind of even the balance and she's not getting the votes."

Tyler: Freddie Mercury would’ve been proud to hear that. Rock isn’t your forte but I still loved your voice today no matter what and you’re good today.

Jennifer: You sounded beautiful singing that song. I needed a lil more rock performance. Overall, really really great performance.

Randy: I actually loved it. You sang no runs on that, she changed what she naturally does. One tip: When you’re gonna sing rock, channel a lil Tina Turner. Very nice, I loved it.

Boy Abunda Wants To Produce Jessica Sanchez' Concert

King of Talk Boy Abunda admitted that he wanted to produce if ever a Philippine concert for Fil-Mexican-American Jessica Sanchez who is now on tight competition in American Idol Season 11. Jessica now belongs to the Top 6 of American Idol 2012 and striving to get into the season 11 finals come May 23rd.Last Sunday, April 22 on The Buzz, Boy Abunda expressed his admiration for Jessica and confessed that if given the chance, he would like to be the producer of Jessica Sanchez' Philippine concert.

"Hindi pa ito alam ni Kris (Aquino) pero sana ay mabigyan po kami ng pagkakataon na mai-produce ang concert ni Jessica Sanchez dito sa Pilipinas," Boy Abunda said.

"She's really brilliant. Alam niyo po mga kaibigan I've seen so many contests but Jessica Sanchez is one of the best singers na aking narinig sa buong buhay ko. Ang galing," he added.

Tito Boy was very proud with the achievements of Jessica that he even campaigns for the Fil-Mexican Idol contestant to become the very first Asian-Latina winner of the hit US talent search. "Iboto po natin si Jessica Sanchez sa 'American Idol.' Huwag po tayong papayag na hindi manalo ang batang ito because I think she is one of the best singers in the world, so hinihikayat natin ang ating mga kababayan sa Amerika at territories sa States, cast your votes for Jessica Sanchez," Boy ended.

It can be recalled that Boy Abunda and bestfriend Kris Aquino also produced the Philippine concert of Half-Pinoy half-Puertorican sensation, Bruno Mars last year.

You have 2 chances to vote: 10am-12noon and 1pm-3pm on Thursday Manila time. If you get busy tone (try at least twice to be sure) on the first time slot, that means your Magic Jack or NetTalk phone has a West Coast number, so trying dialing on the second time slot (1-3pm). SHOCKING: American Idol 11 Top 7 Results: Jessica Sanchez voted off, saved by the judges!

Before the results show even started, a breaking news / leak  from TMZ was released:

There will be a stunning turn of events on “American Idol” tonight, because TMZ has learned one of the absolute favorites to win the competition will be eliminated.

Sources connected with the show tell TMZ … producers are scrambling to persuade the judges to use their “save” on the contestant.

We’re told producers actually thought 2 of the 3 contestants in the bottom tonight were strong candidates to win the entire competition.

It turned out that these 2 were Jessica Sanchez and Joshua Ledet.

Frontrunners Jessica Sanchez and Joshua Ledet falls on the bottom 3 together with hot seat semi-regular, Elise Testone. After learning who were in the bottom 3 tonight, judge Steven Tyler already said that no matter what, they will use their save vote on any of those three singers in the hot seat.

Jessica Sanchez had to sing Nobody's Supposed to Be Here (and Jessica is not supposed to be there in the bottom 3) by Deborah Cox for the save.

"You're not going home! This is ridiculous! We're using the save!" Lopez said after grabbing the mic from Jessica.

Jackson added: "This girl is one of the best singers in America. Are you kidding me? Everyone, please vote for the best!"

Sanchez, 16, said she wasn't surprised by the results of the voting this week.

"I don't expect anything. Whatever happens happens, and I just want people to know that I've been working hard my entire life," she said.

Sanchez has consistently been praised by the Idol judges for her vocal skills. On Wednesday (Thursday in Manila) Sanchez gave a soulful rendition of Jazmine Sullivan's "Stuttering," prompting judge Randy Jackson to say that she "slayed the biggest fish of the night."

The use of the judges' save means 2 contestants will be eliminated next week.

Come on people! Let’s not be overly confident and let’s support Jessica!

One of the best performances of the evening was Jessica Sanchez and Joshua Ledet duet on the Aretha Franklin and George Michaels anthem, I Knew You Were Waiting for Me.

The house went wild after listening to these crooners sing, at which time Randy Jackson dubbed this performance the evening's best and one of the best performances he’d seen. The other two judges were just as keen about what Jessica and Joshua brought to American Idol on Wednesday night. Both received a standing ovation from all three judges.
